Hey, Hickman! Meet your new steering committee for the 2012-2013 school year.

Big Four: these are the folks responsible for representing Hickman in political settings. They coordinate our events, control funding for these events, and keep communications with the administration fluid. These positions were elected by the student body in April.

President- Ashton Day, senior.
Vice President- Mikayla Dykstra, senior.
Secretary- Anna Tamerius, senior.
Treasurer- Daniel Shyu, senior.

Big Six: In addition to Big Four are Webmaster and Parliamentarian, which combine to be Big Six. Webmaster is in charge of any Student Government technology and keeps us all up to date. Parliamentarian leads Senate meetings (every other Thursday at six).

Webmaster- Natalie Heath, senior.
Parliamentarian- Aaron Young, senior.

And the rest…

Dance- Emily Rackers, senior.

Dance chair is in charge of theme, location, DJ and food choices for our school dances. If you have any suggestions for next year, be sure to let me know. As a side note, our Homecoming dance will be right after our Homecoming game next year. No, we can’t change that. But this is how most schools do it.

Activities- Madison Blitz, junior.

Activities chair organizes all our main school fairs such as Kewpie Fest, Homecoming Queen Charity Fair and Courtwarming King Charity Fair. In the past, Hickman has had a car show, barbeque, etc. Activities is in charge of the set-up and smooth operation of these festivities.

Spirit- Lois You, junior.

Spirit chair chooses what we’ll be doing for Spirit Week before Homecoming and Courtwarming as well as any future pep assemblies or talent shows.

Historian- Jonathan Gill, senior.

Historian documents all our events so we can share them with you on our website.

Service- Carly Kempf, junior.

Service chair directs all charity functions that Hickman does through student government (Joplin collections, penny wars, food bank, independent interests, etc).

Policy- Kahlea Wilson, senior.

Policy chair heads up our voting system to elect Student Government officers, queen and king candidates, and prom king and queen.

Publicity- Raigan Mastain, senior.

Publicity chair works to get the word out there about what’s going on around school with posters and advertisements; because let’s face it, it’s not easy to hear the announcements half the time.

Assemblies- Sarah Darr, senior.

Assemblies chair does all the fancy behind-the-scenes work so mics work on stage or so the curtain doesn’t collapse mid-playcut.

As always, if you have any ideas for how to make next year better, hit any of us up. Or talk to our sponsor, Mr Devero, in room 217.
